Batman shocks fans with a surprising twist in Gotham War by ending Jason Todd/Red Hood’s reign
Warning: Batman #138 SPOILERS ahead. In a stunning plot twist in the history of Gotham War, the Dark Knight has made a decision that will leave DC Comics fans speechless. As the Caped Crusader has taken an unprecedented step by putting an end to Jason Todd’s tenure as the vigilante known as Red Hood. Here’s what happened:
The ongoing storyline of Gotham War has pushed Batman to the limits of his morality and ethics, but in this latest twist, he seems to have crossed a line that few expected. Bruce Wayne physically defeats Jason Todd, his former Robin, and plants a hypnotic suggestion in his mind.
An implacable destiny.
This hypnotic suggestion is triggered when Red Hood’s body generates adrenaline, resulting in an overwhelming surge of fear. This effectively incapacitates Jason and prevents him from continuing his fight for justice in Gotham City in the lethal way he was accustomed to. Batman, however, appears to see this as a «gift» for Jason, rather than a punishment.
Furthermore, Bruce Wayne has arranged a new life for Jason in Metropolis, away from Gotham City. However, this turn of events doesn’t sit quite right, as Batman clearly seems to have lost faith in his former partner’s redemption.

The decision to end Red Hood’s reign will surely not go unnoticed by the rest of the Bat-Family, and its actions are likely to have significant consequences in future stories.
